The journey starts from the small village of Imbros at an altitude of 700 meters. Initially, the path is downhill with relatively low sidewalls, but it narrows and becomes more impressive as it descends. The gorge is rich in vegetation with old cypress, oak, and maple trees. Historical traces, including a WWII plane crash site, can be seen along the way. The narrowest point, called Stenada, is only 1.6m wide with walls reaching 300m high. The gorge opens up towards the village of Komitades.
